Holocaust remembrance ceremony will be April 17 Published March 22, 2012 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Kirtland Air Force Base, N.M. -- The Kirtland Air Force Base Holocaust Remembrance Committee will host the annual Remembrance Ceremony at 10 a.m. April 17 at the Base Chapel. The theme of the event, which will be open to everyone with base access, is "Who will be their legacy?" Two Holocaust survivors, Werner Gellert and Shoshana Dubman, will tell their stories. The Holocaust is one of many large genocides this world has experienced. It is important to learn and remember what others have endured, so history does not repeat itself. The local community will also be involved, including the Holocaust and Intolerance Museum of New Mexico, The Jewish Federation of New Mexico, Sandia Base Elementary School and the Sandia High School JROTC.
