School partners Published April 5, 2012 KIRTLAND AFB, N.M. -- During the week starting April 2, 17 volunteers worked at Sandia Base Elementary School and at the Kirtland Air Force Base Youth Center, helping children practice their reading and math skills, watching over students on the playground, parking lots and other areas to keep them safe, and helping with homework. During the second week of April, 22 volunteers will support our kids. The Kirtland AFB School Partners have 37 volunteers signed up. If you haven't volunteered yet, consider donating your time. To start, you'll need to complete and return a volunteer registration form. The forms are available on the Kirtland AFB homepage, at the MPS customer service counter in the Consolidated Support Building, and in the 377th Mission Support Group command section. You may request the form by sending an email to the School Partners at KAFBschoolpartners@kirtland.af.mil. Submit the completed form to KAFBschoolpartners@kirtland.af.mil, at the MPS customer service counter or at the 377 MSG command section. For more information, call the volunteer coordinator at 853-1809. Parents: Do you know what your child should know by the end of this school year? Do you know which subjects they understand and which they're struggling? Sign up your children at www.soarathome.com where they can take free assessments, and the correct answer will be "Yes." Then, your children can get help in any areas they need with free tutorials. Finish this year with a bang and start the next year on the right track.
