F.E. WARREN AIR FORCE BASE, Wyo. -- Maj. Gen. Jeannie Leavitt, Department of the Air Force chief of safety, received a firsthand look at the 90th Missile Wing’s capabilities during a tour Nov. 2 – 3, 2021.
During Leavitt’s time here, she was able to meet with safety personnel from the 20th Air Force and 90th Missile Wing, mentor female Airmen of the wing, get oriented about the missile field wind farms, view the Training Launch Facility and one of the installation’s Missile Alert Facilities, and tour the Weapons Storage Area and Weapons Generation Facility.
“It was great to meet with the hardworking Airmen of the Mighty 90th and see their amazing accomplishments,” said Maj. Gen. Jeannie Leavitt, Department of the Air Force chief of safety. “The security of our nation depends on the members of the 90th doing their critically important mission each and every day.”
The reason for Leavitt’s visit was to view the current and future ICBM capabilities of the installation. This allowed her to be more familiarized with Global Strike Command’s mission set to better integrate higher headquarters safety operations.
“My goal was to gain a better understanding of the mission, and everything it takes to maintain and protect these weapon systems. This goal was achieved thanks to the many knowledgeable Airmen of the wing,” said Leavitt. “I am coming out of the 90th more informed about the operations and security of the Missile Wings, and I am better poised to support the mission.”
As chief of safety, she develops, executes and evaluates all Air and Space Forces’ aviation, ground, weapons, space and system mishap prevention and nuclear surety programs to preserve combat capability. Getting a personal look at the capabilities of the base allows Leavitt to know what she can provide to Air Force missile installations.
“It was an amazing opportunity to showcase our mission and our Airmen to the Air Force chief of safety,” said Col. Catherine Barrington, 90th MW commander. “Our Airmen execute a very important mission for our nation and we are proud of what we do here.”
