Kirtland sergeant earns AFGSC recognition

KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, N.M. --

Air Force Global Strike Command has recognized a Kirtland Air Force Base sergeant for her work and skills.

Tech. Sgt. Cassandra Nutter, financial analysis supervisor for the 377th Comptroller Squadron, received the 2016 Financial Management and Comptroller Annual Award for the non-commissioned officer category.

“It is pretty awesome to be recognized. It is the highest award I have received,” she said.

Nutter found out she won the award Dec. 6, when her commander came in to a briefing she was conducting and told her congratulations.

“Everyone in the unit was excited to hear that Tech. Sgt. Nutter received this award in recognition of her performance,” said squadron commander Lt. Col. William Beauter.

Nutter said the recognition was good because it showed the capabilities of the entire section.

“While it may have my name on it, the award shows the quality of everyone here,” Nutter said.

She added her team is exceptional because she can point them in a direction and they run with it.

“Everyone — the civilians, the enlisted and the officers — are phenomenal people,” she said.

The award is at the major command level. Next, Nutter’s packet will compete at the Air Force-wide level.

“Just this level is amazing,” Nutter said.

She has received quarterly awards for her work in the past. However, this is her first annual award at a command level.

Beauter said Nutter has also instituted a Transformational Leadership workshop, which has had 12 sessions and professionally developed more than 210 Airmen at Kirtland.

“I cannot think of an NCO that was more deserving of this award. Tech. Sgt. Nutter is an outstanding performer in my budget flight,” Beauter said.
