VOLUNTEER RAFT GUIDE
Starting in April you can be trained as a volunteer raft guide for the summer season. Training costs $100 and will be held most weekends in April. The fee will be fully refunded at the end of the season to guides who complete all training, are chosen to be part of the volunteer team and who fulfill their guiding commitment. Outdoor Recreation offers trips from 1/2 day to multiday and run from May to September, conditions permitting. Call 846-1499 for information or to sign up.

SOFTBALL TEAM

KIRTLAND CLIMBING GYM
Come check out the 1,500 square foot climbing gym at Outdoor Recreation. Everything you need to stay fit, strong, flexible and healthy including workout equipment, free weights and yoga classes are available. A day pass is $8 and membership options vary from $35 to $150. GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Tijeras Arroyo Golf Association's first tournament of 2007 is a four-person Las Vegas scramble on Feb. 24 at 9 a.m. Tournament cost is $20 a person. Sign up at the golf pro shop no later than Feb. 21. TAGA membership is open to all persons who meet eligibility requirements for golf course privileges on base. GOLF MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
Sandia Women's Golf Association 2007 Annual Membership Drive will be at the Rio Grande Conference Center, located at the corner of Texas and F Avenue, on Feb. 13 from 5:15-7:15 p.m. This organization can help with leagues, lessons and USGA Rules Clinics. Introduction to Avalanche Clinic
If you do any travel in the winter back country this clinic is a must. Learn the basics of winter travel, avalanche awareness, snow reading and much more. This class is a prerequisite to the field avalanche courses. Feb. 15, 5-8 p.m., $10 a person.

Avalanche Day Outing
If you have taken the Avalanche Clinic (see above), this day outing is a must. We will cover all aspects of winter travel and avalanche forecasting. Trip includes equipment, instructor and transportation. You must have proper clothing, backpack, footwear, snacks, lunch and lots of water. Cost is $35 a person, Feb. 18. Location to be determined depending on snow pack!
