Learn To Fly
The Kirtland Flight Training Center offers ground and flight instruction programs for private, commercial and instrument ratings. The aero club is open to everyone military and civilian. Call 846-1072.

Ground School
The Kirtland Flight Center will have a private pilot ground school this month. Private and instrumental/commercial, certified flight instructor, multiengine and airline transport pilot's license aircraft checkout training offered. Full-time instructors and active-duty part-time instructors are on staff with a fleet of nine aircraft with new avionics, interiors and exteriors. Private and instrument/commercial ground schools on a regular basis. Training cost depends on student skill and aptitude. Call 846-1072.

ALS Graduation Lunch
The Airman Leadership School will host a Graduation Lunch Ceremony March 23 at 11:30 a.m. for Class 07-4 at the Mountain View Club. Tickets can be purchased students or by e-mail: lorna.allen@kirtland.af.mil. They are $9 each for club members and $11 each for nonmembers. Tickets will be sold through March 14.

Step up to the Plate
The Step Up to the Plate promotion has started and will run through March 31. Members have lunch at the Mountain View Club and receive a scratch card. Scratch to win prizes.

Golf Course Snack Bar
The Tijeras Arroyo Golf Course snack bar is open Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in Building 28054. Menu includes: Mondays - soup and grilled cheese, Tuesdays - carne burrito with fries, Wednesdays - Mongolian BBQ, Thursdays - taco salad and Fridays - fish and shrimp. for more information, call the snack bar at 846-1169.

KOSC March Dinner

Chess Tournament
The youth center is recruiting for certified United States Chess Federation tournament directors and interested players for the upcoming KAFB Base Level Chess Tournament on March 24. Contact the youth center at 846-1829 for more information.

2007 Youth of the Year
Youth ages 14-18 can pick up a Youth of the Year package and compete to be recognized as the best on the base in areas of leadership, service, character, academics and future goals. Call 853-5437.

The Congressional Award
This is a noncompetitive program open to all 14-23 year olds. The award recognizes individuals for achieving goals in public service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition/exploration. Contact Youth Programs at 853-5437.

Teen Aviation Camp
Teens who would like to explore the U.S. Air Force Academy as a possible choice for college can spend a week at the Air Force Academy in Colorado. Packages must be returned to the Youth Center no later than March 23. Stop by the Youth Center to pick up an application package.

Youth Employment Skills
The YES Program is a way for high school students to earn money for college and gain career experience, while volunteering. Contact the youth center at 846-1829 for more information.

Teen Late Nighter
March 9 from 8 p.m.-1 a.m. for ages 13-18. The cost is $7 for members and $9 for nonmembers. Come hang out and enjoy games, karaoke and pool tournaments. Bring money for the snack bar and those late night munchies!

Yellowstone Lodging
The Mountain Home Air Force Base has 13 trailers available for rent at Yellowstone National Park to active-duty, retired military personnel, civilian DOD, personnel and their families. This program gives park visitors the opportunity to stay in quality lodging for an economical $70 and $78 an evening. The trailers are available from Memorial Day through the middle of September. Predeployment Briefing
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. or by appointment.

N.M. Department of Labor Transition Assistance Seminar
Scheduled for March 7-8 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. and March 9 from 8 a.m.-noon at the Consolidated Support Building, room 120. This employment seminar is designed to prepare military and family members for the transition from military to civilian life. Job search techniques, resume writing, and interviewing, as well as other issues regarding transitioning will be covered.

The seminar is open to all military members and their spouses who are within two years of retiring or within one year of separating. The preseparation briefing should be attended prior to attending this seminar. DOD Civilians undergoing reduction in force are also welcome to attend. Attendants should wear civilian attire and bring a resume for review.

Preseparation Briefing
Briefing covers a wide range of benefits and services available to transitioning military personnel and their families. Members can participate in the monthly group briefing or schedule an individual appointment. The DD Form 2648, Pre-separation Counseling Checklist, which is required for final out-processing, will be completed. Spouses are encouraged to attend.

Predeployment Briefings
Available on a walk-in basis at the Airman and Family Readiness Center every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. or by appointment for special needs. Family members are encouraged to attend and to sign up for the Hearts Apart Program.

Judges Needed
New Mexico Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement is a nonprofit organization promoting educational enrichment for middle and high school students from historically underrepresented ethnic groups. NM MESA, in partnership with schools and universities, prepares these pre-college students for college and careers in mathematics, engineering, science and related fields.

Judges are needed to help out at the NM MESA Jamboree on March 10 at UNM.

Individuals need no particular expertise, just a willingness to assist in fulfilling the mission of promoting educational enrichment. There will be a judge's orientation on March 9 at UNM. Call 366-2500 or 544-2617.

Thrift Shop Closure Dates
The Thrift Shop will be closed for Spring Break March 24-April 1, and April 6 for Good Friday. The shop is on the corner of F and Texas Street. Hours are Mondays, Wednesday, Fridays and the second Saturday of each month from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The Thrift Shop is closed on Tuesdays and all Federal holidays. Closings, limited capabilities 
IEU Closed for Inventory
The Individual Equipment Unit of Base Supply will be closed from March 12-16 for its semi-annual inventory. Personnel requiring DCUs must plan accordingly. Emergency Issues will only be processed for personnel with deployment orders in hand and deploying within 30 days. For more information call IEU at 846-0075.

Pass and Registration Office Restrictions
The pass and registration office will be limited in its capabilities through March 5. Decals and visitor passes can be issued, however no restricted area badges will be issued. Also the Truman contractor pass area is closed during the same period.

Munitions Storage Closure
The 377 MXS Conventional Munitions Storage Area will be closed for a semiannual 100 percent base stock inventory March 5-9. Kirtland organizations with munitions accounts are reminded that only emergency requests, submitted in writing and approved by the group commander or equivalent will be processed during this time. Consolidated Support
The 377th Air Base Wing Consolidated Support Services will be closed March 7 from 1 p.m. until close of business for a change of command ceremony and March 8 from 7 a.m.-noon for a retirement ceremony.
