Organized by the 377th Services Squadron, the Biggest Loser program has been underway since January and will run through the end of March. Contestants have been taking part in competitions, taking classes at the Health and Wellness Center and working out at the fitness center in the hopes of being Team Kirtland's Biggest Loser. A services signature event, the Biggest Loser features activities that allow contestants to use many of the programs and services that the squadron offers. Remaining in the competition are the recipe modification and emotional eating classes at the HAWC held March 14 and 28, respectively, both at 11:30 a.m. Also remaining are the dance pad competition at the youth center March 5, 6 and 8 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.; free golf lessons at the golf course March 13-16; the drive, putt and chip competition at the golf course March 20, 21 and 22 between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m.; and the healthy recipes competition at the Mountain View Club March 29 at 5:30 p.m. Final weigh-ins need to be completed by March 29, 11:30 a.m. Lesley Sparks, fitness and sports director, encourages contestants to keep strong and complete the program and continue on with the changes even once the competition has ended. Schedules for classes offered at the fitness center are available at the front desk or in the racks just inside of the outer doors of the East Fitness Center. Individual appointments can be made with dietician Morgan Saucedo at the HAWC for information about a healthier diet. There will be a team winner and an individual winner, each will receive a $250 gift certificate to Sandia Resort and Casino. The gift certificates can be used at the hotel, on-site restaurants, spa or the gift shop. There are still several weeks remaining in the competition, giving all participants plenty of time to lose and win big.
