377th SFS begins crime prevention programs Published April 13, 2007 By David Charles 377th Security Forces Squadron KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE,New Mexico -- The 377th Security Forces Squadron Resource Protection/Crime Prevention Section invites you to participate in Operation Identification. This program is pivotal in deterring and recovering personal property. Most burglars sell what they steal, making it hard for police to trace stolen goods. Once items are gone from you, your television looks just like thousands of others. Unless you can prove it is yours, police cannot return it. To help protect your personal property, join the Operation Identification Program. You can mark your property by simply engraving the letters "AF" followed by the last four of your social security number. It is also recommended you document your property on an inventory list and take pictures or video of it. All unit crime prevention monitors should have Operation Identification Program packages available. In addition, electric engravers are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. at the security forces resource protection section, located above the law enforcement desk in Building 20220. These engravers can be checked out for 48 hours. For more information, contact Resource Protection at 846-6209. Crime Stop (Dial 846-9111) This program makes available an easy-to-remember telephone number to report crime hazards or suspicious activity in progress. The caller can remain anonymous. This program allows security forces to respond to crimes before they occur. Vacation quarters checks If you are going on leave or TDY, security forces patrols will periodically check your home during your absence. To take advantage of the program, visit the law enforcement desk at 1300 Texas St., Building 20220, and complete a Vacation Quarters Check Form.
