The Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center recently welcomed David K. Robertson as its new Executive Director.

Robertson, a member of the Senior Executive Service, served as the Director of Engineering and Technical Management, Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., before his assignment to AFOTEC.

"Robertson understands the value of test and comes to us with an abundance of experience in acquisition and logistics as well as test." Said Maj. Gen. David J. Eichhorn, AFOTEC Commander. "As he brings his considerable talents to bear on today's programs, the already authoritative AFOTEC voice gets more so and significant money can be saved as weapon systems get more effective."

"My biggest asset is a diverse background," said Robertson. "By holding positions at air logistics, product and test centers, it has broadened my experience base and provided valuable exposure to other ways of resolving programmatic and technical issues, approaching policy development, and influencing organizational culture.

"Although I have taken advantage of the exceptional growth opportunities provided by the Air Force, I'm extremely excited about returning to the test and evaluation mission," said Robertson. "AFOTEC has a proud and extensive heritage and I'm honored to join the team and contribute to its legacy."

Robertson began his civil service career in 1986 and has accumulated engineering and technical management experience at four Air Force Materiel Command centers: the Air Armament Center, Air Force Flight Test Center, Ogden ALC and Oklahoma City ALC. He also completed a career broadening assignment in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Acquisition Integration, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Acquisition in Washington, D.C. Robertson was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in June 2010.

AFOTEC is a direct reporting unit to the Chief of Staff of the United States Air Force and is the Air Force's independent test agency.

AFOTEC is responsible for testing, under operationally realistic conditions, new warfighting capabilities developed for the Air Force, and often its joint and coalition partners.
