On Nov. 1, the 377th Aerospace Medicine Squadron Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight, 377th Mission Support Group Fire Department, 377th Civil Engineering Division Emergency Management and Chugach Management Services conducted a biohazard response exercise on base. In the training scenario, an Airman ran out of bleach while cleaning floors, then mixed two cleaners, with toxic effects. The Airman ran from the building choking. Responding firefighters’ exposed skin was burned, and officials called in the hazardous materials response team. Above, Senior Airman Randall Conway, left, and Staff Sgt. John Miller, both assigned to 377 AMDS Bioenvironmental Engineering Flight, use a Draeger pump and Draeger tube to measure the chemical concentration.
