Operation Warm Heart helps Team Kirtland Families Published July 1, 2010 By Marie Vanover 377th Air Base Wing Public Affairs Kirtland Air Force Base, NM -- Is it Christmas in July? Not necessarily; however, for the Kirtland First Sergeants Association, preparations are already beginning to support "Operation Warm Heart." The program gives back to Airman and ensures that families do not go without during the holiday season. In July, Team Kirtland first sergeants begin accepting donations to support OWH. Master Sgt. David Honaker, 377th Comptroller Squadron first sergeant, said, 'Operation Warm Heart' is a year-round program designed to assist Airmen and their families. OWH provides holiday food baskets and turkeys for families during the holiday season. " The Kirtland first sergeants work with commanders and supervisor to identify individuals who may need help. In the last year, OWH has assisted 21 Airmen and their families. The shirts will begin operating booths and launch a campaign July 2 and 3 at the base exchange and commissary to accept donations-in-kind for OWH. As the holiday season gets closer, they will begin accepting donations of food items, as well as work with the chapel on "Operation Angel Tree." Other OWH drive dates are July 16-17 and Aug. 14-15, also at the base exchange and commissary. For more information, contact your unit first sergeant or Master Sgt.
