Easter Supper & Stripes

The Gravity Airmen Ministry Center will be hosting our Easter Supper and Stripes on Thursday, April 20. The meal will include Ham, Green Bean Casserole, deviled eggs, casseroles, and desserts! There will also be a spiritual resiliency talk. The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. Volunteers will be available to sew on stripes for Airmen ranks E1-E5; drop off uniforms by 5:15 p.m. (stripes provided for free). SUPPER & STRIPES is a monthly event open to all Airmen, commanders, first sergeants, and families are encouraged to attend. SARC Panel Presentation

In observance of National Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month in April, the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office will present a Commander’s Panel open to all Team Kirtland leaders, first sergeants and spouses. 
The panel presentation will be from 10 a.m. to noon in the Air Force Safety Center Auditorium. It will illustrate the process of handling a sexual assault report, including other agencies and their roles in the case progression. The Sexual Assault Prevention and Response team will also conduct “unit walk-abouts” during the month. They will hand out SAPR goodies, talk with Airmen and get their volunteer victim advocates face time within units. Earth Day

Kirtland’s Environmental Office will be hosting an education table at the Base Exchange to celebrate Earth Day, which is April 22. The booth will highlight some of the environmental projects on base, such as the natural resources

The Team Kirtland Job Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 26, 2017 at the Mountain View Club. SuicideTALK is a suicide prevention resource brought, free of charge, by LivingWorks Education. It focuses on creating a climate of awareness and interest in learning more about suicide prevention resources in the community. Air Force Alpha Warrior

Alpha Warrior is coming to the East Fitness Center May 9-10. Kacy Catanzaro of American Ninja Warrior fame will be on hand to sign autographs. The event is open to all Department of Defense personnel. Alpha Warrior is a new type of obstacle course with the focus on the obstacles versus distance, testing physical and mental limits.  The objective is to complete each obstacle and finish with a 100 percent completion rate. There will be a competition, with top times qualifying to compete against winners from other bases in our region.  More details to follow.

CCAF Graduation Ceremony & Reception

The annual CCAF graduation ceremony and reception is May 11 at 2 p.m. at the Mountain View Club Ballroom. All are welcome to attend to help honor Kirtland graduates from the CCAF graduating classes of October 2016 and April 2017. The ceremony will honor 204 CCAF graduates who will be awarded 217 associate degrees in applied science.

10th Annual Metro Public Safety Day

The New Mexico Department of Veterans Services, along with the Valencia County Sheriff’s Department and the Los Lunas Police Department, are pleased to invite you to the 10th Annual Metro Public Safety Day. The event will be Saturday, May 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Los Lunas Sports Complex, located at 1601 Highway 314 SW, on the corner of Hwy 314 and Morris Road just north of the District Courthouse in Los Lunas, NM.  There is no cost to participate. Truman Visitor Center and Parking Lot Closure

The Truman Visitor Center and parking lot will be closed April 21 for a special event. Sponsors will need to direct their visitors and guests to the Gibson Visitor Center. Sponsors and guests should expect and plan on delays in getting a pass. Contractors needing to receive their installation credentials should report to Gibson Gate.  Truman Visitor Center and parking lot will re-open for normal business April 24.  Contact the 377 SFS Law Enforcement Operations Section at 846-0309 with questions or concerns. 

STEM Summer Day Camps
Registration is open for La Luz Academy’s Science, Technology, Engineering & Math summer day camps for rising 3rd through 10th grade students. Elementary Camp (rising 3rd & 4th grade students) will be daily June 12-16. Middle School (rising 7th & 10th grade students) will be daily July 10-14. Parking Lot Closure
The Kirtland installation commander has directed the closure of the parking lot located on the southeast corner of the of Louisiana Boulevard & Gibson Boulevard intersection, beginning April 3.  Any vehicle found in the lot after the closure will be towed at the owner’s expense. Personnel who have had their base driving privileges revoked may no longer park in this lot or anywhere east of Louisiana Boulevard, to include Wherry Elementary School.  Questions or concerns may be directed to 377 SFS Law Enforcement Operations at 846-0309.

Construction at Hardin Field

Focus Group Participants Wanted
The Air Force's Directorate of Diversity and Inclusion and the Air Force Equal Opportunity Office are sponsoring a study to identify approaches for improving the advancement and retention issues for different demographic groups in the grades of GS-05 through GS-15 (or equivalent). The focus groups will occur the week of May 1, 2017 with specific times and locations to be determined.
