  • Kirtland AFB to hold Bulk Fuels Remediation Facility open house

    Kirtland AFB officials will hold an open house at the Bulk Fuels Remediation Facility (Groundwater Treatment System) from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, July 22, 2021, on base. Everyone is welcome, and no special permission is required. Enter through the Ridgecrest Drive Gate. No weapons or illegal substances allowed. Parking will be available nearby.

  • 36th RQS celebrates 50th anniversary

    The 36th Rescue Squadron celebrated 50 years of operations, here, July 15, 2021. The 36th RQS’ primary mission is to support the United States Air Force Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape School training through hands-on helicopter operations for over 4,000 students per year; however they also support local civilian agencies in search and rescue operations and participation in safety investigations.

  • DLA conducts spill prevention exercise at Kirtland AFB

    The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) partnered with Kirtland’s environmental professionals to host its annual spill prevention exercise. This training is open to all base personnel that are either a part of a spill response team or handle spills reports, petroleum, oils, and lubricants on a regular basis. The training covered operation and maintenance of equipment; discharge procedure protocols; applicable pollution control laws; rules and regulations; general facility operations; spill prevention plan and ended with a Bulk Fuels Facility (BFF) walk through and spill demonstration.
