The Combined Federal Campaign will kick off here Sept. 25 at Hardin Field with free lunch, campaign information, a fun run and lots of other activities. The campaign will continue here through Nov. 2.

The Combined Federal Campaign is an annual, nationwide fundraising drive that allows federal civilian, military and postal employees to donate money to one or more not-for-profit agencies. Along with the Air Force Assistance Fund, it is the only officially sanctioned fundraiser allowed to be conducted on Air Force installations.

Although any member of a unit, including contractors, is allowed to make cash contributions or attend fundraising events to benefit the CFC, only federal civilians and military members are solicited for donations.

Each unit will have at least one employee campaign manager, or ECM. These volunteers are also known as keyworkers. Their responsibility is to provide each government employee with information and opportunity to donate.

They will distribute CFC brochures that list all eligible local, national and international charities, and donation forms to everyone in their unit.

The CFC for the Central and Northern New Mexico Region will run from Sept. 18-Nov. 16. During this time, any fundraising events conducted on Kirtland AFB must be for the CFC. Units should plan accordingly to avoid conflicts as they plan fundraisers for holiday parties and other unit functions.

As we get geared up for this year's campaign, many units will be planning events and fundraisers and all Team Kirtland members are encouraged to participate. Here are a few dates to put on your calendar:
