CHIEF MASTER SGT. EDWARD MARTINEZ

Command Chief Master Sergeant Edward Martinez is assigned to the 150th Special Operations Wing, New Mexico Air National Guard, Kirtland AFB, N.M. He is the Wing Commander’s key enlisted advocate and advisor on operational effectiveness and the organization, training and equipping of enlisted Airmen. He ensures the Wing Commander’s directions and policies are carried out and the Airmen understand and are dedicated to the mission of the 150SOW. Chief Master Sgt. Martinez was appointed to his current position after serving as the 150th Security Forces Manager. He was the first Drill Status Guardsman to fulfill the responsibilities of Security Forces Manager.

Chief Master Sgt. Martinez enlisted into the 150th Security Police Flight, in December 1988. He has also completed several tours of duty in nine countries to include two Presidential Activations. Chief Master Sgt. Martinez participated in a humanitarian mission in Tirana, Albania where he was Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge of convoy operations, which secured convoys of U.S. Navy equipment from a mountain base in Tirana, Albania to the Albanian sea ports. In 2009, during an Operational Readiness Inspection, Chief Martinez was the Ground Defense Commander of the Dismounted Patrol, which contributed to an Excellent rating for the 150th Security Forces Squadron. Chief Master Sgt. Martinez’s deployments supported several missions which included; Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Noble Eagle, Operation Cornerstone, and Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. He was activated and deployed to provide security for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia. He was also activated and mobilized to in-state disasters to include the Los Alamos Fires and Reserve Fires, in New Mexico.

Chief Master Sgt. Martinez is a Sergeant with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department, in Albuquerque, N.M., where he has worked for 19 years. In his civilian capacity with the Sheriff’s Department, he has been a Patrol Deputy, Violent Crimes and Homicide Detective, and a Drill Instructor for the Bernalillo County Regional Training Academy. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2010 and has been a supervisor in the Field Services Division, Judicial Operations Division, Criminal Investigations Division, and Internal Affairs. He also deployed to New Orleans, Louisiana for Hurricane Katrina relief operations with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department, Emergency Response Team. Chief Master Sgt. Martinez has been the primary instructor and adviser for Domestic Operations and Response to Civil Unrest. He has taught Field Force Formations and Response to Civil Unrest to the New Mexico Army and Air National Guard, as well as the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department, Rio Rancho Police Department, Albuquerque Police Department and the New Mexico State Police.
