Richard “Dick” Brims was a decorated aircraft commander who was awarded the Air Force Cross medal for actions he took during the Mayaguz siege in 1975. Brims and his crew piloted a CH-53 helicopter code named “Knife 51”. While suppressing enemy fire, the “Knife 51” crew transported reinforcement Marines, evacuated five wounded to safety, and was the last helicopter to extract the remaining Marines from the East and West beaches of Koh Tang.
