The Mountain View Club offers a little bit of everything for everyone, from fine dining and social clubs, to being a place to hang out with friends or family for games or special events.

Marco Boyd, club manager, said that club members enjoy many benefits in the way of everyday treats, from the dining hall and pubs, to special events held every month, including holiday celebrations.

"Mountain View Club is a club for everyone, not just for those in the military or those who live on base; everyone that has access on the base can join," Mr. Boyd said. "We are a club that offers entertainment and good catering to its members -- and we make sure it's well worth it to become a member."

The club has two bars, including the MVP Sports Bar and Grille and Ground Zero, which is located downstairs, a dining hall where lunch, dinner and Sunday brunches are held, several conference and meeting rooms, along with a grand ballroom. The club also has a large patio where special events can be held, such as wedding receptions and barbeques.

As a means of showing gratitude to club members, he said, the club hosts a quarterly Membership Night, the most recent which was held on Sept. 18. Members, their spouses and children are free. Non-members pay $10. Membership Nights are also used as a means to attract new members.

"The goal is to merely show our appreciation to our members," Mr. Boyd said. "Of course, if members invite guests, we certainly can use this night to promote membership."

At September's Membership Night, a silent bonanza bingo was held and about $250 in door prizes were awarded as a courtesy to the members.

The club spent about $1,700 on the event, mainly on food that included prime rib, a variety of other meats and extravagant desserts.

"It's well worth it -- the members seem to really enjoy the event so we try to go all out," Mr. Boyd said.

The next membership night is scheduled for Nov. 7, from 5-7 p.m.

Mr. Boyd said the menu hasn't been prepared yet, but usually the dinner includes a full-fledge buffet, with salads, meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables -- "the whole nine yards."

"I've done three Membership Nights here and we've seen an increase in participants during that period," he said. The first Membership Night he hosted, there were about 200 people who attended. The number of participants increased to about 275 during the September Membership Night.

"My goal is to increase membership by 8 percent or roughly 200 members over the next fiscal year," he said.

Mr. Boyd became the club manager in December 2005 with plans to improve the club, including the building itself and the events the club hosted.

Over the past 10 months, Mr. Boyd has begun some internal renovations on the walls at the club to make them more attractive.

He has also organized many events. Services the club offers on a regular basis include a lunch buffet served Monday-Friday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Manzano Dining Room and dinner every Wednesday-Saturday from 5:30-8 p.m.

The club's catering services are also available for members.

"We do have established menus, but we can also customize menus to the members' needs," said Janet Grossklas, the club's caterer. "We do catering for all occasions for our members. And a good thing about being a club member is that they get discounts on all catering events or any event held at the club, including meals held in the Manzano Dining Room."

The first Sunday of each month, the Mountain View Club has a Sunday Brunch from 10-2 p.m.

Other events slotted for October include a Dinner Dance today; three separate Halloween parties on Oct. 27 that include a kid's party, dinner and dancing, a costume contest, and a disc jockey.

"We want to make the club as fun as possible for members and so far, the members seem to really enjoy what we've got to offer," Mr. Boyd said.
