KIRTLAND AIR FORCE BASE, NEW MEXICO -- The 22nd anniversary of the Tribute to Women in the Military will be held March 2 at the Mountain View Club here.

The tribute honors all military women - active duty, Reservists, Guardsmen and retirees. The theme of this year's tribute is "Creating Legacies - Creative Perspectives." The event will focus on the creativity military women have and the stories they have to share.

The tribute will begin at 8:30 a.m. with opening ceremonies, followed by the Creativity in Uniform presentations. The luncheon will begin at 11:45 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Navy Capt. Nori Anne Reed, University of New Mexico Navy ROTC commander.

During the luncheon, two special awards will also be presented to women who have contributed to the improvement of the community, the state and the military. The day's events include two seminars: "Order from Chaos" presented by Liz Davenport, professional organizer, and "Can you Hear Me Now? - Protect Your Hearing" presented by Charlene Raymond, audiologist. There will also be numerous exhibits on display and door prizes will be given. Preregistration is required and is due by Feb. 20.

The tribute is the longest running event of its kind held on a military installation that celebrates the many contributions made by military women.

This nonprofit, multiservice activity is chaired by volunteers and has been a sellout event that draws attendees ranging from high school students to retirees and World War II veterans. This year, the exhibit room will be decorated like a United Service Organizations club, with photos contributed by veterans, including pictures of Bob Hope and Phyllis Diller.

Everyone is welcome to attend. Prices are $24 for lunch and one seminar, or $13 for lunch only. For registration information, contact Ethel Tilley at 853-1718 or Marsha L. Thole at 856-3352.
