A Lunch and Learn Series for Couples will be coming to Kirtland AFB from Sept. 11 to Oct. 16 to help bring couples closer together -- during the lunch hour.

A six-session Couples' Educational Program, which includes a pre-assessment, six workshops and a post-assessment, will help couples nurture and grow their relationships.

The program will run for six consecutive Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. in Room 120 of the Consolidated Support Building. The first session is Sept. 11 and the final session is Oct. 16. The sessions are closed, which means that couples are asked to commit to attending all six sessions.

The program is free but is limited to the first 15 couples who register. Because the sessions occur during the traditional lunch hour, couples are more than welcome, and encouraged, to bring their lunch during the seminar sessions.

The lunch seminars are facilitated by the Samaritan Counseling Center of Albuquerque. The Samaritan Counseling Center of Albuquerque was founded in 1987 to help people deal with depression, grief, anxiety, family problems and other emotional difficulties. The center is the only nationally accredited faith-based counseling center within the state. The center provides a variety of counseling services including pre-marriage counseling, couple counseling and family mediation.

Although the center is faith based, the center serves the entire community and does not impose faith on any of its clients. All staff counselors hold graduate degrees in counseling and are licensed in New Mexico within their respective professions.
