Holiday gate hours

All Kirtland gates will observe normal business day gate hours for the Monday federal holiday.

 

Energy Action Month

October is Energy Action Month. The purpose of this observance is to highlight the critical role energy plays in Air Force operations and to encourage smart energy use and management for our bases, ground vehicles and aircraft. Team Kirtland members are encouraged to turn off office equipment when it is not needed, especially at night or on weekends. Activate sleep settings on all printers, copiers, fax machines, scanners, and multifunction devices.

 

Flu vaccine availability

The only available influenza vaccine formulation is for children between the ages of six and 35 months. Future notifications will be made when remaining formulations are made available. Gravity closure

Gravity will be closed on Oct. 24 due to a base exercise.

 

Property turn-in

Members who have property they would like to turn in for disposition services should review http://www.dla.mil/ddsr then contact Randy Blackburn at 505-846-6396 for assistance with the transportation request.

 

Eubank Gate construction information

Detailed information on the project is now available at www.kirtland.af.mil and the Kirtland App. Look for the orange construction cone icon. The app can be downloaded from the Apple Store and Google Play free of charge.

Playgroup New Times

Combat Trafficking in Persons (CTIP)

CTIP is the second largest criminal activity in the world. It is the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of persons by means of threat, use of force, coercion, abduction, fraud deception, abuse or exploitation. Airmen should report any suspicious behavior that may indicate CTIP activities to their chain of command, Security Forces, AFOSI, or the IG. Kirtland Chapel: Family Night

Each Wednesday the Chapel hosts dinner at 5 p.m., and classes from 6 to 7 p.m. Adult, marriage, and children’s classes will be offered. For more information, contact the Chapel at 505-843-5000.

 

Catholic Mass

The Chaplain Corps is welcoming a new chaplain, Ch. Bedemore Udechukwu, who will help hold catholic mass every Wednesday at 11:30 a.m., Saturday at 5 p.m., and Sunday at 9 a.m.

 

Requesting Honor Guard services

Requests for color guard ceremonies must be made at least seven days prior to the ceremony. Multiple requests made for the same day and time will honor a “first requested, first served rule,” except in the case of military funeral honors which take precedent over all other requests. Volunteers Needed

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico is looking for volunteers to mentor children and provide tutoring support in math, reading and writing at Wherry Elementary School. Better Body Better Life Class

Food Pantry

Eligible service members including active duty, National Guard, Reserves, retirees, DoD civilians, and their family members can go to the food pantry in time of financial hardship for the grocery necessities at no cost to them. The pantry is open from 7:15 a.m. until 4 p.m., and is located in the Consolidated Support Facility, Ste. 126.

The Airman & Family Readiness Flight is hosting an event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Rio Grande Community Center. Gravity: Supper & Stripes – Pot Roast

There will be a dinner beginning at 6 p.m. located at the gravity facility. E1-E5 are able to get a set of stripes sewn on their uniforms for free. October 18

Capstone Event

The final step in the Transition Assistance Program will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. in Suite 126 of the Consolidated Support Facility. The capstone event is a one-on-one meeting with Airman & Family Readiness Flight staff to verify completion of career readiness standards and should be accomplished no later than 90 days before separation or retirement.  All separating and retiring service members on Title 10 orders for 180 or more consecutive days are required to meet the CRS which are verified by A&FRF staff member and documented on the DD Form 2648.  Documentation for the CRS must be within the last 12 months. Navy Ball

The 244th U.S. Navy birthday ball will be held at the Sheraton Albuquerque Uptown hotel beginning at 6 p.m. Prices are $25 for E4 and below, $30 for E5-E6, $40 for E7-E8 and O1-O3 and $50 for E9 and O4-O9. Volunteer Event

Youth Mental Health First Aid

There will be a free class from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Room 110 of the Education Center. The entire program must be attended to receive a certificate. Participants should bring their own lunches. Holiday Bazaar

There will be an event from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Spouses Clubhouse bldg. 20226. There will be vendor booths with jewelry, handmade goods, home décor, woodworking items, and more. The event is open to all with base access.

 

SPORTS AND FITNESS CALENDAR:

 

Ongoing fitness classes at the East Fitness Center in September

All Terrain

This class formats all terrains, to include team drills and visualization rides, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. Tuesdays, and 11 a.m. to noon Thursdays.

 

Power Ride

Higher resistance training to improve strength, stamina and power, 11 a.m. to Noon Tuesdays and 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. Thursdays.

 

Basic Training

A 60-minute functional total body workout this class will incorporate cardiovascular, strength, endurance, balance, push-ups, core, speed and agility, as well as partner drills. Instructors will push to optimum fitness potential. Classes run from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays.

 

Muscle Hour

Integrate balance with strength while using the barbells, heavy bars, and dumbbells to sculpt. BOSU and fit balls may be incorporated from time to time. All fitness levels.
Class runs from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

 

Zumba® and Strong by Zumba®

Zumba is a Latin-inspired, dance and tone program that runs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Strong by Zumba combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio, and plyometric training moves synced to original music and runs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays.

 

Yoga Stretch and Strengthening

A level-1 class combining traditional yoga postures with deep stretching, breathing exercises, and meditation. Great for beginners and the more physically fit, resulting in increased flexibility, strength and stress reduction, running from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays.

 

Yogalates

Combines the muscle sculpting, core firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. This fat-burning, low-impact workout is designed for all levels and runs from 5 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday.

Air Force Reserves

The 377th Force Support Squadron In-Service Recruiting Office provides Palace Front and Palace Chase briefings twice a month at 9 a.m. every second and last Wednesday at the Consolidated Support Building inside the FTAC training Rm. 111. RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler

Skip the long wait for an ID card by scheduling for an ID appointment on the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler. This is a self-service function that allows members to book their own appointment and can be accessed 24/7. Also, if scheduling an appointment and the DEERS network goes down, people will receive a call from the 377th Military Personnel Section customer support staff.
