ANNOUNCEMENTS

Mental Health, Family Advocacy Program and ADAPT clinics closure

The Mental Health, Family Advocacy Program and ADAPT clinics will be closed from 2 to 4 p.m. April 26 for an official function. On-call services will be available for command consultation. For emergencies, please go to the nearest emergency room.

Tricare online secure messaging

The 377th Medical Group would like to alert all patients that the only approved and secure messaging application authorized is Tricare Online Secure Messaging. If patients are receiving requests via email from other sources, do not engage in communication exchange. For any questions or concerns, contact the 377th MDG Practice Manager at 505-846-6783.

Spring cooling system transition

H-VAC technicians will begin the transition from heating to air conditioning April 15 and are projected to finish May 17.

Day of Remembrance Planning Committee seeks volunteers

The Day of Remembrance Planning Committee is seeking volunteers to help during the event taking place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Chapel May 3. The Day of Remembrance remembers all Holocaust victims and those who worked to save lives in the midst of the atrocity. Volunteer opportunities include setup, teardown, escorting, stage setup for the play, and audio/visual. To volunteer contact Capt. Andy Peck: thomas.peck.4@us.af.mil.

Air Force Assistance Fund campaign

This campaign supports the Air Force Aid Society and has been extended to May 10. AFAF supports the General and Mrs. Curtis E. LeMay Foundation, the Air Force Enlisted Village, and the Air Force Village Charitable Foundation. As a by-Airmen-for-Airmen campaign for more than forty years the tradition continues. The unit project officers and key workers will be explaining the benefits of the program and why support is needed from all Airmen. Inaugural Bilingual Book Festival

The National Hispanic Cultural Center will host the Inaugural Children’s Bilingual Book Festival April 27 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A summer reading program will kick off with the festival for students. The Air Force Association is launching 2019 scholarships. There are eight potential scholarships available. The application deadline is April 30. Food Pantry

Eligible service members including active duty, National Guard, Reserves, retirees, DoD civilians and their family members can go to the food pantry in time of financial hardship for the grocery necessities at no cost to them. The pantry is open from 7:15 a.m. until 4 p.m., and is located in the Consolidated Support Facility, Ste. 126.

Request for Air Show volunteers

The Kirtland Air Show committee is looking for Airmen to volunteer in making the Open House a success. From May 16 to 19, Airmen can volunteer for numerous positions needing filled before, during, and after the show.

  1. 40 Airmen are needed for air operations and static displays to volunteer as ambassadors for performers and statics to assist with all needs from the time they arrive to the time they leave Kirtland AFB. Dress code is Uniform of the Day and Airmen should be prepared to distribute bottled water and ice during the day. Requirements include flight line access and familiarity with the flight line portions of the airfield. Training will be provided by air operations and hospitality.
  2. 10 Airmen are needed to be hospitality volunteers to assist with airshow DVs, performer party booth, etc. Airmen will assist in distributing water and food to airshow performers. Uniform is the uniform of the day. Training will be provided by Maj. Celia Jarrat and Tech. Sgt. Cami Richards.
  3. 10 Airmen are needed to be protocol volunteers on May 18 to assist with USAF DVs, SES’, and local leaders in DV tent with food and drinks, etc… Dress in uniform of the day. Training will be provided by protocol.
  4. 150 security forces volunteers are needed on May 18 to be parking lot attendants, traffic controllers, Entry Control Points at flight line, sentry, etc… Duties will be assigned the day of the airshow and will be met by designated SFS personnel. Training will be provided by Security Forces
  5. 4 Airmen are needed on May 18 to be runners for volunteer forces to provide snacks and water to all volunteers and SFS personnel (outside of the immediate flight line). No training required.

The Air Base Wing Safety hosts two annual motorcycle safety briefings held at the base theater. National Anthem auditions

Police Week Golf Tournament

A golf tournament in honor of Police Week takes place starting at 8 a.m. at Tijeras Golf Course. The format is a four-person team scramble. Cost is $60 per player and includes a green chile cheeseburger, cart fee, greens fee, range balls; with an optional $10 Tiger Pack, which includes two-foot string, one mulligan, and one drive off the red tees. Ongoing fitness classes at the East Fitness Center in March

All Terrain

This class formats all terrains, to include team drills and visualization rides, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, 5:30 to 6:30 a.m. Tuesdays, and 11 a.m., to noon Thursdays.

Power Ride

Higher resistance training to improve strength, stamina and power, 11 a.m. to Noon Tuesdays and 5:30-6:30 a.m. Thursdays.

Fitness Conditioning

A 60-minute functional total body workout incorporating cardiovascular, upper body strength, core strength, pushups and sit ups. Everything needed to pass the Air Force Fitness Assessment Test. This class is designed to teach proper push-up and sit-up techniques and build cardiovascular endurance. This class is highly recommended for those on the Fitness Improvement Program and runs from 6 to 7 a.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Basic Training

A 60-minute functional total body workout this class will incorporate cardiovascular, strength, endurance, balance, push-ups, core, speed and agility, as well as partner drills. Instructors will push to optimum fitness potential. Classes run from 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays.

Muscle Hour

Integrate balance with strength while using the barbells, heavy bars, and dumbbells to sculpt. BOSU and fit balls may be incorporated from time to time. All fitness levels.
Class runs from noon to 1 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.

Zumba® and Strong by Zumba®

Zumba is a Latin-inspired, dance and tone program that runs from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Wednesday. Strong by Zumba combines body weight, muscle conditioning, cardio and plyometric training moves synced to original music and runs from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturdays.

Yoga Stretch and Strengthening

A level-1 class combining traditional yoga postures with deep stretching, breathing exercises, and meditation. Great for beginners and the more physically fit, resulting in increased flexibility, strength and stress reduction, running from 5 to 6 p.m. Thursdays.

Yogalates

Combines the muscle sculpting, core firming benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility advantages of yoga. This fat-burning, low-impact workout is designed for all levels and runs from 5 to 6 p.m. every Tuesday.

“Tai Chi Class”

Ongoing Tai Chi Class

Tai Chi is an ancient form of exercise, which shows to improve muscle strength, flexibility, cardiovascular disease and balance. Tai Chi also exercises the mind, and is proven successful in treating depression, anxiety and behavioral disorders. Tai Chi is also great for reducing stress. The class is from 11:30 a.m., to 12:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays in the 377th Medical Group, on the first floor, in the Physical Therapy gym, Room 1B 101. Free weekend movies

The base theater plays free movies April 26 through April 28, open to anyone with base access. Movies start Friday with Replicas (PG-13) at 6 p.m. Saturday begins with First Man (PG-13) at 3 p.m., and Mary Queen of Scots (R) at 6 p.m. Finally, A Dog’s Way Home (PG) on Sunday starting at 3 p.m.

Kirtland Playgroup

The group meets every Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Chapel Annex. The playgroup provides a fun, relaxed place for parents and kids to meet to have fun and make new friends. The playgroup encourages social development and interaction. It is not chapel-sponsored and is not affiliated with any faith or religion. The playgroup is an unstructured play time for infants and toddlers 0-4 years and their parents. Join the group for fun with new friends; no registration is required. Better Body Better Life

Better Body Better Life is a weight management course comprised of five classes, designed primarily for our active duty personnel. The classes offered are a combination of nutrition, exercise, and other lifestyle advice to help manage weight, improve performance, and help pass PT tests! Classes are offered throughout the year Tuesdays from 8 to 9 a.m., on the 3rd floor of the 377th Medical Group building, Classroom A. Participants may enter the class rotation at any time and come to all five classes to complete the course. Finance In-Processing Briefings

Finance in-processing briefings are held every Tuesday and Thursday at 9 a.m. Those arriving late will not be admitted. Briefings are located in Bldg. 20245, Room 123. Members must be in uniform.

Air Force Reserves

The 377th Force Support Squadron In-Service Recruiting Office provides Palace Front and Palace Chase briefings twice a month at 9 a.m., every second and last Wednesday at the Consolidated Support Building inside the FTAC training Rm. 111. The office is also available to provide information on continuing service in the reserves for active duty members transitioning out of the Air Force. For questions, contact Master Sgt. RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler

Skip the long wait for an ID card by scheduling for an ID appointment on the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler. This is a self-service function that allows members to book their own appointment and can be accessed 24/7. Also, if scheduling an appointment and the DEERS network goes down, people will receive a call from the 377th Military Personnel Section customer support staff. In addition to making an appointment, the RAPIDS Appointment Scheduler answers some of the most commonly asked questions to ensure people are prepared for appointments.
