HEARTS APART

Hearts Apart Programs
Hearts Apart is sponsored by Kirtland Airman and Family Readiness Center, for military, Department of Defense civilians and family members who are, will be or have been separated because of military commitments (deployments, temporary duties, remote tours).

Services offered include on-base and off-base resource information, personal support and group activities.

If you want to receive the latest information on the Hearts Apart Program, base activities, and other pertinent information, you will want to join the e-mail distribution group call 846-0751.

Information on eligibility for these programs is provided during deployment briefings or by calling the AFRC at 846-0751,  or check AFRC calendar online at www.kirtland.af.mil.

Monthly Hearts Apart Support Group
The Hearts Apart support group is held monthly. The location depends on the Hearts Apart activities. This is a great opportunity for spouses and their children to enjoy good food, relax, enjoy the conversation and company of others. Red Cross counselors are available for support.

Hearts Apart Calls
Family members of Kirtland military and civilians are permitted to make morale calls from home to their sponsors during deployments and temporary duties lasting over 15 days, or during unaccompanied remote overseas tours. There are several steps that must be completed before one can utilize this program.

Give Parents a Break Program
Air Force families undergoing stressful times may be referred by first sergeants or a base "helping" agency to take their children (12 and under) to the Child Development Center for a 4-hour "break." This is sponsored by the Air Force Aid Society.

Car Care Because We Care Program
Spouses of Air Force members deployed over 30 days or on overseas remote tours may receive a certificate for a free oil change and safety check at AAFES Service Stations for their primary vehicle. Call for details. The Car Care Because We Care Program is sponsored by Air Force Aid Society.

Video Teleconference Phone
Want to see the smile of your loved one that is deployed or on remote tour while making your morale call? If he or she has access to a VTC phone at their location (available at many), make arrangements to use our VTC by contacting our Airman and Family Readiness Center.
